SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Humble Bundle is seeking an outstanding full-stack Senior Software Engineer with at least 4 years of full-time web development experience to join our team. Your work will immediately impact our customer base who have helped us in raising over $118M for amazing charities like the Red Cross, Child's Play, and EFF.

As part of our Engineering team, you will work on a variety of tasks, including building new features for our products, improving existing features, fixing bugs as they occur, and helping to facilitate our accounting and analytics processes. You will help build and maintain our backend (written in Python and running on Google AppEngine) as well as our frontend (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional experience developing websites in a team environment
  • Ability to write clean and performant code
  • Experience with databases
  • Proficiency in both Python and JavaScript

Director of marketing - San Francisco

We started by offering only game bundles, but have branched out to include an online storefront, a monthly subscription service, a publishing initiative, and lots more. Humble Bundle is hiring a Director of Marketing to grow all of our businesses especially our monthly subscription. We run a lean growth marketing team spanning advertising, email, social media, and promotional growth marketing. We already do more than half our business internationally, but we have ambition to grow our international channels even more. We need a strong leader to manage a long list of growth projects but who isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get dirty with the data (SQL or Google Analytics) or with the messaging (write an email or make content for ads).

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive aggressive growth in our already massive subscription business.
  • Drive new marketing ideas from ideation to deployment and constant improvement.
  • Drive more experiments in our existing marketing channels to learn about our audience.
  • Collaborate with the creative and operations teams to create functionally beautiful promotions.
  • Experiment with new ways to raise awareness for Humble Bundle through traditional and non-traditional marketing and media.
  • Lead a team of 3 (and growing) marketing professionals.
  • Manage a complex list of diverse requirements from business leaders across the company.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to drive feature creation and adoption.
  • Help establish, track, and drive Marketing KPIs to measure success.

Experience / Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in newsletter, paid advertising, or affiliates.
  • 3+ years of experience using SQL, Google Analytics, Excel, and other analytics tools.
  • 3+ years managing teams of people
  • Expert in A/B testing and experimentation.
  • Experience in the gaming industry is a plus.
  • Experience in ecommerce is a plus.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Our Support Ninjas love to play games and are passionate about solving problems and helping people in general. As the front line of Humble Bundle's communication with the community, they spend their days talking to customers, identifying bugs, and collecting data that will be used to directly improve the products.

Support Ninjas are responsible for responding to all incoming customer queries via Zendesk and ensuring that Humble Bundle customers have the best possible experience. They rapidly prioritize serious issues, cross collaborate with our Engineers to fix bugs, and are responsible for providing the highest quality customer service at all times.

This is a Tier 1 support position.  Tier 1 agents are the first line of defense and will be relied on to help recognize emerging trends and issues.  They will focus on handling these issues as well as escalating more in depth tickets to the relevant channels.

This position is located in Austin and you must be physically located in the Austin area, however, it will be a Work From Home position. Should we open an office in Austin in the future, being present in the office during your shift may be required. Remote conferencing in for daily meetings will be mandatory and you may occasionally need to travel to our San Francisco office, which will be covered by the company.

You will be required to work at least one weekend day.  Current staffing needs will also have this position working afternoon/evening shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to support tickets submitted by our customers
  • Troubleshoot issues to help diagnose problems
  • Coordinate internally with other teams to provide feedback on the products
  • Assess and communicate bugs/issues encountered by our customers

Experience/Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience in assisting customers in an online environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure in an extremely fast-paced and high-volume environment
  • Above average ability to process and retain information
  • Strong customer service skills and empathy for issues that affect the gaming community
  • Previous experience with the Steam platform and PC gaming
  • Previous experience with the Google Apps suite
  • Previous experience with the Zendesk ticketing system

  • A passion for and above average knowledge of gaming in general, including PC/Mac and Android
  • An above average knowledge of pop culture in general, including movies, comic books, etc…

  • Utilizing inventory systems to organize and track materials for processing
  • Quickly adjusting to dynamic workflows and protocols
  • Collaborating with Creative and Engineering to improve current designs and workflow

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; or 1-2 years of equivalent experience preferred
